  • Rash Update

I went to my doctor this morning. She gave me a steroid shot, and prescribed another steroid Prednisone to be taken orally.  She also prescribed Hydroxyx HCL for itching and told me to take two over the counters, Zyrtec and Pepcid. Odd, since my stomach is fine, but she assured me that Pepcid has something that can help with the allergic reaction.
Of course, she didn't have a clue as to what I am allergic to, but said that stress can play a big part in allergic reactions. It has been a very stressful month or so. If I am not better in a week she wants to see me again. She said, predictably, that I'd have to see an allergist if I wanted to test to see what I might be allergic to. I may have to do that, but right now the priority is knocking down these terrible symptoms.

Anyway, I'm hopeful and grateful that there is help available. I'm sleepy now from the antihistamine, so I'm off to take a nap.

  • I hope that it all works out and the rash goes away!!  And I hope the weight-gain aspect of the steroid doesn't affect you like it does me!!!  Your garden looks lovely as always!

  • :so-sad: I really hope the medicine gets rid of your itchies.

  • it all sounds horrible. hope it clears up soon!

  • Rest and hopefully the meds with do their work!

  • Excellent that you are on the road to recovery. The Prednisone and the pepcid are a good idea. Quite a lot of meds here. If you feel too drowsy you could cut the zyrtec in half. Perhaps you have allergy to some mysterious plant in your yard.
I get a ferocious case of poison ivy about every two - three years.
I hope you recover from this quickly. You will sleep very well tonight.
The prednisone might make you a bit hyper and increase your heart rate. drink a lot of liquids. As you titer down on the dose you will feel less weird/hyper. I am so sorry you are suffering. I know just how you feel. I hardly ever get sick or rashes, but when I do it is BIG.

    Feel better soon!

  • I hope something gives you some relief.  doesn't sound like fun at all.  :so-sad:

    p.s. your garden is beautiful.

  • The rash business reminds me of times I have set in a pile of ants I didn't see, took pictures near poison oak I didn't see, stood at my back fence chatting with a lady encountering poison oak again I didn't see, and all of this meant a Med Pak which now days will shoot my blood sugar to blazes.

So I hope there is nothing hiding amongst your beautiful flowers.

  • So glad your rash is better. Sometimes a round of steroids can get the body back into balance.  I have always tried naturopathic choices first but sometimes they just don't get it and one has to resort to a prescription.  Allergies can be so miserable!  I have mild asthma so I understand.  It is seasonal and if I am outside too long in the spring or fall I can really get under the weather.  Your flower gardens just brighten my days so much Alice.  I have not been panting lately but hope to paint some of your lovely flowers soon.  :applause:       Flower Garden Godess :bow::bow:
