Thursday Morning Post
I was trying out a new technique and filter on the garden pictures below. This pansy is the only one I have this year. It evidently came from seed of last years pansies. I didn't put any out this year as I'm trying to get perennials established everywhere I can to cut down on the expense and work of replacing annuals every year. Eventually I hope to have a truly low maintenance garden. As I age and my arthritis worsens, that will be all I can keep up with.
The second picture is a fan flower I planted in one of the patio pots, Scaevola aemula. It
is native to Australia where it is a sprawling evergreen perennial.
Here in Oklahoma it is treated as an annual.. I like it because it
thrives in hot weather and produces a nonstop
bloom of dark blue fan-shaped flowers throughout summer.

Rosie Joy has been eating things she is not supposed to. It is impossible to watch every move she makes to safeguard her completely, though we have tried and have retrieved a myriad of unedible things from her mouth -- mulch, bugs, dirt, etc. She has swallowed some things before we could get to her, however, and has thrown up a couple times. It is a big concern that she will eat something that poisons her (some plants) or something undigestible that will not make it through. We don't let her wander about unattended, but puppies are quick and this is going to continue to be a problem until she quits chewing. Suggestions are welcome.

I love the "trial" technique with the flowers. Are you willing to share what you used? Rosie Joy is just too adorable. I have 2 black standard poodles next door. The female still acts like a puppy and she is probably 6 years old. She will lay beside me only for a few minutes when I'm working in the garden and then she bounds through the beds like a dear. She chews on the leather cord of my hand shovel and when I go to pick it up again it is all gooey with slobber. Needless to say, I don't have any suggestions.
Well, for the indoor things. get a gallon, okay well, just a bottle of "bitter apple"
For the outdoor plants and stuff, yeah you have to watch. Clap your hands and say no. That is what I am doing with Pierro.
He chews on the cords... a little, not too bad though. He also plays in the litter boxes like they are a sand box
The vet gave me a free sample of bitter apple for starters just incase.
I love my vet.
Oh! the flowers are pretty...
Love the effect you used on the pansies. Hopefully Rosie won't try to ingest anything dangerous. I did have problems with Yeti chewing on electrical cords under my desk when he was a puppy.... Since Rosie likes to lay under your computer desk, I'd suggest making sure all your wiring is covered over & protected. Other than lots of rawhide bones & toys to help satisfy her chewing need, I don't know of anything that will stop her from chewing. I think you just have to do what you've been doing, try to keep a close eye on what she gets into, & wait for her to outgrow it.

Oh & the site of the day is Awesome!!!
I sure hope Rosie stops eating everything in sight soon, so you can just enjoy her without having to constantly watch her every minute.
RE the find of the day photos. I saw on TODAY where a pet Zebra got loose. I think they said he was loose on a campus. His name was BarCode and he has been returned to his home.
Is there anyway to confine her to a safe area of the patio say? We used to have a play yard for the kids to stop them getting into mischief (we lovingly called it baby jail!!)
I love the photos of the flowers - they have a dreamy quality to them.
wow, I LOVE what you did with that first photo. :good-job: was it difficult to do?
I hope you can keep little Rose safe until she outgrows this puppy stage.
