  • Art Museum Visit

Gill, Chris, and I went on our monthly outing today. It was very cold outside, so we chose wisely to go to the Museum of Art. We began by having a lovely lunch at the Museum Cafe. We all had Brie and Apple Arugula Salad, which was made with Arugula, raspberries, cherry tomatoes, diced red onions, walnut crusted brie apples, raspberry vinaigrette. It was delicious. That's Gill below.

Of course, we didn't stop there. Gill and I had Cappuccinos and Chris and I split a Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee. Gill was a good girl and only took a bite or two.

After lunch we looked at the exhibits. There was a temporary exhibit of American Impressionists, which was very good. I would have loved to take pictures there, but it was forbidden. We also took in the permanent exhibits. Hands down, our favorite was the Dale Chihuly art glass collection. Our museum has the largest collection of his work anywhere in the world. The remainder of the pictures are Dale Chihuly's work. Click any of the images to see them larger.

Chris and Gill are sitting in front of the huge Chihuly glass sculpture in the entrance of the museum. It towers up to the third floor and is something to behold. We had a lovely time.

  • Oooooh, your photos came out nicely!  Wonderful company, good fun and outstanding art. :love:

  • I love Chihuly.   All his glass reminds me of the sea.    I know you had fun and the food looks great.

  • Awesome photos! I really like them. I love art so much. You should check out CrazyKey123 on Xanga. She is working at becoming an artist.

  • I was blessed to see Chihuly exhibits here. A permanent tall one is in our main library as well.

    Food looks delicious!

  • I LOVE this post!

I had a nice brunch at the Museum cafe once and saw some of the Dale Chihuly glass art.  What a surprise when I got to the US Embassy in Moscow, Russia, and saw that one of the stairwell areas had a huge display of Dale Chihuly's art like in the first photo in your glass art series above.

And I have the tall Chihuly as the background photo on my cell phone.

Thanks for the memories and for sharing these beautiful photos.

  • Yes, it was most spectacular.  And I thought the salad was really tasty.

  • What a fun post and I just love the art and I have to say I absolutely love creme brulee!  :yummy:

  • I wonder if he did the ceiling at the Belaggio.

  • @NanaLana - As a matter of fact, Chihuly did do the ceiling at the Belaggio

  • Wish I could own a Chihuly artwork!  It is his color that I'm fascinated with.

  • Hi, I haven't been to an Art Museum! Have a great Sunday!

  • isn't it beautiful -like something you would see under the ocean

  • I've heard of him but never seen pictures of his work.  I recognized it immediately!  I think there is a lot of his work at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

  • The food looks quite tasty and what beautiful glass! I hope you are staying warm and safe!
