  • Fan Flower

I've been thrilled with the Fan Flower (Scaevola aemula) that
I have growing in several pots this year. In the pot above, I also have
Stargazer foliage that I am leaving as long as it is green -- to feed
the bulbs for next year's bloom. The Fan Flower keeps the pot with the
ripening lily foliage from being unattractive. I planted this
attractive purple annual when I planted the bulbs below it early this
spring, and it has been blooming ever since. Last year I had a lot of
success with million bells in patio pots, but this year only the cream million bells (second picture) have done really well. The red and fuchsia million bells I got at the same time are pretty dismal this year. Just when you think you have things
figured out, next year it's a whole new ball game.

  • Scaevola is one of my favorites! That's a smart use in the pot with the Stargazer foliage!

My red Millonbells isn't doing so great now that it is consistently hot!

  • :good-job: I've added Scaevola to my want list for next years garden! Very pretty.

  • Cell phone video was a hoot!

  • The million bells are sometimes referred to as petunias, though the blooms are much smaller -- but I don't believe they are actually petunias.

  • Where do you keep finding these amazing "find of the day" items??  They're wonderful!
