If you have ever wondered of Butterfly Weed will rebloom if you cut off
the spent blooms before it produces seed pods -- the answer is a
resounding
YES. I'm so glad. I love the cheerful orange flowers, and
so this year after it was finished blooming and just beginning to go
into seed production, I trimmed off all the flower heads as an
experiment. And so now, at the beginning of August, I have new sets of
flower clusters on my Butterfly Weeds. I'll let them go to seed this
time around, and will watch while the tiny seed pods develop into large
Milkweed pods that scatter their seeds to the wind on white feathers. (The Milkweed picture is from last year) I
did not know until a couple years ago that the Milkweed that delighted
me as a child is the Butterfly Weed I've admired as an adult.

What a pretty flower, I love the color! I have spent all morning painting "mexican chile" in our hallway. I had to wash a naughty kitten's paws when she swiped a still wet wall!
I've always admired the Butterfly Weed too - and didn't know until today (thank you very much!) that it was Milkweed! WOW!!!
I love butterfly weed, but the rabbits ate all of mine this spring.
